Privacy Policy
CommunityPal is committed to protecting all personal information we may hold. This policy applies to all
CommunityPal websites and describes how we manage and safeguard your privacy.
Your Privacy Rights
All Canadian organizations engaged in commercial activities must comply with the Personal Information
Protection and Electronic Documents Act and the Canadian Standards Association Model Code for the Protection of
Personal Information it incorporates. These obligations extend to CommunityPal and give you rights concerning
the privacy of your personal information.
Why we need Personal Information
CommunityPal provides services to a wide variety of members. We require some personal information to provide
these services and to verify your identity before permitting you full access to services in order to help
protect the privacy of all our members.
Collection and Consent
CommunityPal may ask for your name, email address, phone number, street address, banking information, and
other personally identifiable information when you create an account online, purchase services such as
advertising, or participate in surveys, promotions, and other features we may offer from time to time.
CommunityPal may also collect demographic information, which is not unique to you, such as your postal code, age,
preferences, and interests. Additional non-personal information about your computer that is automatically
collected can include your IP address, browser type, access times and referring Website addresses. By using
CommunityPal, you consent to our policies and practices.
Use
The information collected is used to operate and maintain the quality of service and to provide general
statistics regarding use. CommunityPal does not sell, rent or lease personal information to third parties.
CommunityPal may, from time to time, contact you to inform you or conduct research of other products or services
available from One Community and its affiliates. CommunityPal may share data with trusted partners to help us
perform statistical analysis, send you email or postal mail, provide customer support, or arrange for deliveries.
All such third parties are prohibited from using your personal information except to provide these services to
CommunityPal and are required to maintain the confidentiality of your information.
Protection
CommunityPal has implemented physical and technological processes and staff procedures for keeping your personal
information safe and secure. Sensitive information you provide, such as credit card numbers, is transmitted using
Secure Socket Layers encryption technology to prevent such information from being intercepted and read as it is
transmitted over the internet to the access-restricted servers and sites providing our services. It is important
for you to protect against unauthorized access to your own password and computer. Although we cannot take
responsibility for any theft, misuse, unauthorized disclosure, loss, alteration, or destruction of data by a
third party, we take commercially reasonable precautions to prevent such unfortunate occurrences.
Disclosure
If you disclose personally identifiable or sensitive information through shared CommunityPal features, such as
Discussion Forums, this information may be collected and used by third parties. CommunityPal will disclose your
personal information, without notice, only if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such
action is necessary to: (a) conform to the edicts of the law or comply with legal process served on CommunityPal
or the site; (b) protect and defend the rights or property of CommunityPal or others; or, (c) act under exigent
circumstances to protect the personal safety of users of CommunityPal, or the public.
